Crusades Chess - hand decorated Our designers have created a
magnificent chess set which epitomises the struggles for domination
between Christians and Muslims. This conflict has continued
intermittently for over a thousand years, but it is the period between
1095 and 1292 which has captured our imagination because of the exploits
of the Crusader knights.
Skilfully hand decorated, these pieces represent the Christian side
led by King Richard I of England, known as Richard the Lionheart, in
combat with the Muslim armies led by Saladin. This chess set
concentrates particularly on the Third great Crusade led by King Richard
I of England, who in 1189 joined King Philip II of France in an effort
to recapture the holy city of Jerusalem. King Richard, with 8000 troops,
seized Cyprus and some cities on the Palestinian coast, but ultimately
failed to dislodge the Muslim leader, Saladin, from Jerusalem.

History of Gold Chess - hand decorated There is no other
sport as richly endowed with outstanding characters, incidents and
locations as that of golf. Our designers have drawn on the rich history
of the game to suggest individuals and places that have played an
important part in the refinement of golf from what was a mediaeval
peasants' pastime to the game we know and love today.
Golf's growing popularity really stems from the inauguration of the
Open Championship in 1860 and it is from this era to the early 1900s
that our designers have chosen to represent the true beginnings of the
sport. They have chosen Harry Vardon as King, Lady Margaret Scott as the
Queen and Old Tom Morris as the Bishop. The pieces displayed here are on
chess board reference H401.
Beautifully hand decorated, this set is a delight to own and makes a
remarkable presentation piece. |

Celtic Chess - hand decorated The Celtic people were
inhabitants of areas of Western Europe, particularly Ireland, Wales,
Brittany and the Highlands of Scotland. They were subjected to raids by
Vikings and Norsemen and our chess set is the story of a battle between
the Irish King, Brian Boru, and the Viking invaders. The battle took
place at Clontarf, near Dublin and was a fierce encounter.
Although the Celts managed to defeat the Viking invaders, their King,
Brian Boru, was slain. This chess set features the principal characters
involved in the battle and depicts Celtic designs and artefacts of the
period.
Almost one thousand years old the Celtic inhabitants of Ireland rose
up under their King, Brian Boru, to fight the invading and colonising
Vikings. Based on the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 AD, our chess set
portrays many of the characteristics of the era with authentic and
historically correct artefacts shown in splendid detail. The skill and
workmanship of the Celtic tribes was demonstrated by their artistic and
unique designs, recognised throughout the world and reproduced here in
this magnificent chess set. |

Battle of Bannockburn Chess In the Battle of Bannockburn
chess set, the artists and sculptors at SAC have captured a pivotal
moment in Scottish history. The patriotic quest of Robert the Bruce,
King of Scots, to free his land of foreign domination reached its climax
at the Battle of Bannockburn on 24th June 1314.
By the summer of 1314 only Stirling Castle remained in the grip of
Scotland 's English overlords. It was just south of here at the Burn (or
