"This book offers more key advice and instructional punch than a dozen
other books sitting on a bookstore's shelf. Purdy's ability to communicate
with the average player (a rare skill!) puts him at the forefront of chess
teachers. If you're in that D-A grouping, you will be delighted with
Purdy's 'Search for Chess Perfection.' " International Master Jeremy

Product Description
The greatest chess teacher of all time spent his years of writing and
playing chess in Australia. His "Chess World", from which these chapters
are taken, was considered by many, including Bobby Fischer, to be the best
example of what a chess magazine should be. In addition to the 29
annotated games, there are 3 dozen plus chapters on many facets of chess
explained in plain and entertaining English. In 1953 Purdy became the
first to win the world's correspondence chess championship. His wife Anne
Purdy provided his biography. A personal view of Purdy as a player was
provided by J.N. Hanks. Included is a large section on combinations, two
chapters of which were missing from the first two editions. A number of
corrections have been made to the original and first revised editions.
