A large percentage of our business is by mail order. We despatch chess computers, books, and equipment daily. Telephone through your order with card details by 12 Noon for same day despatch or goods ordered by letter are despatched the same day.

Postage charges per order are as follows:-Sydney

$4.40, Rest of Australia $6.60. The Australia Post truck arrives daily at 1pm. Under 500gm all Aus $4.40.

These postal rates are irrespective of quantity ordered. We will pay the balance.

Over half a century ago in 1950 the manager of Chess Discount Sales Peter Parr was taught to play chess by his father at the age of 4 well before any of Botvinnik’s 7 world title matches. After winning the British Junior title in 1935 Frank (Pa, Parr) created a record by competing in the British Champi-onship title event for a 55 year period from 1936-1991 and is still active in the new millennium. Peter won the coveted NSW Championship title in 1968 after decisively defeating ex-world correspondence champion Cecil Purdy IM in a title match 2½-½. He later captained the Australian Olympic Men’s Team on a record 6 occasions in Israel, Argentina, Switzerland, Greece, Yugoslavia and the Philippines.

Chess Discount Sales is now so busy 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year that no overseas or interstate trips are planned in the foreseeable future. Peter has been awarded life membership of the NSW Chess Association, and Australian Chess Federation and was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to chess by His Excellency the Governor of NSW in 1997. Peter has served on 4 FIDE world chess federation commissions, FIDE Rules Commission 1982-1986, FIDECHIPS Commission 1982-1990, FIDE Computer Commission 1990-1994 and has been a FIDE International arbiter since 1978.
