A large percentage of our business is by mail order. We despatch chess computers, books, and equipment daily. Telephone through your order with card details by 12 Noon for same day despatch or goods ordered by letter are despatched the same day.

$4.40, Rest of Australia $6.60. The Australia Post truck arrives daily at 1pm. Under 500gm all Aus $4.40.

Nearly 60 years ago in 1950 the manager of Chess Discount Sales Peter Parr was taught to play chess by his father at the age of 4 well before any of Botvinnik’s 7 world title matches. After winning the British Junior title in 1935 Frank (Pa, Parr) created a record by competing in the British Championship title event for a 55 year period from 1936-1991 and at Hastings 1932-2004 over a 72 year period winning the 1939/40 premier.

Peter won the coveted NSW Championship title in 1968 after decisively defeating ex-world correspondence champion Cecil Purdy IM in a title match.

He later captained the Australian Olympic Men’s Team on 6 occasions in Israel, Argentina, Switzerland, Greece, Yugoslavia and the Philippines.

Peter has been awarded honorary life membership of the NSW Chess Association, and Australian Chess Federation and was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to chess by His Excellency the Governor of NSW on behalf of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1997.

Peter has served on 4 FIDE world chess federation commissions, FIDE Rules Commission 1982-1986, FIDE CHIPS Commission 1982-1990, FIDE Computer Commission 1990-1994, FIDE Arbiters Commission 1990-1994 and has been a FIDE International arbiter since 1978.

Chess Discount Sales has been established in the Sydney Central Business District for 36 years.
